Kesatuan Astronomi Antarabangsa atau International Astronomical Union telah mengadakan undian semalam, Khamis 24 Ogos (bersamaan harijadi Azad, Presiden PRS 99/00). Hasilnya, Pluto bukan lagi sebuah planet dalam sistem solar kita.

It is official: The 26th General Assembly for the International Astronomical Union was an astounding success!
The IAU members gathered at the 2006 General Assembly agreed that a "planet" is defined as a celestial body that (a) is in orbit around the Sun, (b) has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and (c) has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit.
This means that the Solar System consists of eight "planets" Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. A new distinct class of objects called "dwarf planets" was also decided. It was agreed that "planets" and "dwarf planets" are two distinct classes of objects. IAU 2006 General Assembly

why is it so? does this mean no more Pluto the dog in disney? no more sailorpluto in sailormoon series?

sian pluto, dah tak ada dlm senarai lagi...sama macam kes tsunami dulu, di mana peta dunia jga telah berubah, ada pulau yg sudah lari dr kedudukannya sejauh 5 meter!...semua buku geografi atau apa yg berkaitan kena diupdate

hoho... apsal susah payah diorg buat cm tu ha? tak sangka nk iktiraf planet pun kene ade guidelines. adakah pada suatu hari nanti manusia akan mampu membeli sebuah planet, so buat guidelines awal2? ape kisah pluto planet ke tak? kalau bukan, skarang nk pangguil pluto tu ape? _____ pluto.

hahahahahahahaha para saintis amerika tak mau pluto turun pangkat. sebenarnya kan, does it really matter??? bukannya ada effect sangat pun. lagi baik tak yah tukar istilah, pasal kalau tukar, dah kena translate suma buku.

I think it does matter. This is also a very interesting occurence since it opens up the room for more discussions about the stars, the planets and all other stuff.

Study about the planets have brought a lot of people into Islam.

At the same time, Muslims should go back to the Quran and hadeeth and find out the real truth which should be in there, waiting to be discovered.

the three official dwarf planets:Ceres, Pluto, Eris(Xena)

if we add these three planets there will be 11 planets in total.the same number mentioned in quran.
